Creating a personalized experience is one of the best parts of planning a wedding. There are so many fun and unique ideas out there, and you get to create a celebration that feels completely authentic to you! As a Boston wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky to be part of some really beautiful weddings with great personal touches, so today I’m sharing my best tips for how to personalize your wedding.
How To Personalize Your Wedding: 5 Ways To Add Personal Touches That Feel Like You

1 Write Your Own Vows
An amazing way to make your wedding feel more personal is to write your own vows. This is a great way for you to speak directly to each other and truly express what this wedding and getting married mean to you. You can share them during your ceremony, or if you’d prefer a more intimate moment, you can share them privately at your first look.

2 Write Personal Notes To Your Guests
This one is one of my favorites! I’ve photographed a few weddings recently where the couple opted to write personal notes to their guests in unique ways. You can include the note as part of their place setting, as their placecard, or in another way! This will make your guests feel so welcomed and valued, and even more excited to be there celebrating you.

3 Choose Signature Cocktails That Reflect You
Signature cocktails are a super fun way to add a personal touch to your wedding day. You can choose drinks that are a nod to what you both love, and even personalize them further with fun names and descriptions. I’ve also seen couples include their pets in their signature drink artwork or names, which is a really sweet way to include your furry loved ones in your day.

4 Customize Your Cake or Dessert
Remember that you don’t have to go the traditional route with anything on your wedding day if you don’t want to, but especially not with your cake! There are so many fun and unique dessert ideas to make the sweet treat moment feel more like you.
Creative cakes are always a show stopper that both couples and guests alike get excited about. And if cake isn’t your favorite, there are lots of different ways you can kick off dessert with a fun alternative. I’ve seen donuts, pie, specialty cookies, and even whoopie pies for a New England flair.

5 Personalize Your Displays
Your displays are one of the areas where you can get the most creative in personalizing things. For example, for your table numbers, you could do photos or something significant that means something to you. You could also include photos on your tables as part of your centerpiece display as well.
