Elegant Emerson Inn Rockport Wedding | Hanna + Kevin

Hanna and Kevin’s Emerson Inn Rockport wedding was one of my favorites to photograph to date. Their day was filled with so many special details that were unique to them. And of all the North Shore wedding venues, the Emerson Inn was the perfect setting for what they had planned. All of the elements of the day – from the seaside views, flowers & decor, to the bride’s gown and reception outfit, were all perfectly planned and stunning. Read on to see more from their day!

Hanna and Kevin were truly a joy to photograph. They are the sweetest couple! Their love story began online, and they actually spent some time dating long distance before Hanna eventually moved to Boston. Now they live on Boston’s North Shore with their sweet pup Gimli. (Who, by the way, they brought along for their engagement photos in Salem for the most adorable engagement session ever!)

As they searched for North Shore Wedding venues, the Emerson Inn was the perfect location to encapsulate the New England coastal vibes they were going for. I loved that they incorporated so many special moments into their day. For example, they had a surprise mariachi band, which was significant because Hanna’s parents were married in Mexico City with mariachis at their wedding. They also did a “unity lasso” during their ceremony which is another tradition taken from Hanna’s parents’ wedding in Mexico. And while the wedding of course had lots of New England coastal elements, they also incorporated some nods from Hanna’s home state of Minnesota in the favors.

The thing that I loved the most about Hanna and Kevin’s day however was that they didn’t entirely stick to tradition and planned a less structured, naturally flowing day. They bought out the entire Emerson Inn, so their guests could move about freely during the evening. For dinner, they had open seating and a food station so guests could sit anywhere and enjoy the coastal scenery. They also had a private moment where they read their vows to one another out on the cliffs by the ocean before proceeding to their ceremony. It’s important to remember that your wedding day is about you and your partner, so make it your own!
