Rhode Island Wedding at Home
Kayla and Zack’s Rhode Island wedding was so unique and truly special. They chose to be married at home, which was a very special way to incorporate lots of significance and meaning into their day! They originally planned for a backyard ceremony and reception, but the rain had other plans. So instead their vendor team transformed Kayla and Zack’s living room into an intimate ceremony space and set up a cozy tented reception space out back! If you are looking for backyard wedding inspiration, definitely keep reading!
Rainy Wedding Day Tip
Though most couples hope for sunshine on their wedding day, embracing the rain and going with the flow (with a backup plan for outdoor events!) is really the best way to handle inclement weather. It can be disappointing, but keep in mind that cloudy and rainy days can actually produce the best lighting for amazing photos!
For Kayla and Zack though, disappointment wasn’t even a word in their wedding-day vocabulary! They were happy every step of the way, even though their initial plans had to change. It was all smiles all day for them.
An Intimate Rainy Wedding Day
Kayla and Zack began their day getting ready at their Rhode Island home. Kayla was upstairs with the ladies for hair and makeup and then got into her dress. The bedroom had lots of natural light which is great for getting ready photos! She then joined Zack downstairs for an adorable first look. We used the wall separating their living and dining rooms for the big reveal – it was so cute! After taking a few portraits of the couple (and their pup Scoop!) we then prepared for the ceremony.
The ceremony began and they married in front of their big beautiful bay window. Guests filled the living and dining rooms to witness their union, and the whole space was decorated with gorgeous plants and greenery. It was such a unique way to hold a ceremony, I absolutely loved it! And of course, Scoop was there as well!

The Backyard Tent Wedding Reception – A Rhode Island Wedding Dream
After the ceremony, everyone headed out back to where the tented reception space had been set up. The vendor team absolutely killed it with the space – it was stunning! The greenery and plant theme from the ceremony continued to the reception. The tables were decorated with beautiful place settings, and the entire space was the perfect combination of fresh-summer and cozy vibes. Even the food itself was artful decor! From the passed appetizers to dinner served family style, Blue Rocks Catering nailed it. Kayla and Zack decided to have an open mic for speeches, so because of this they were treated to toasts from lots of their loved ones! Then a dance party finished off the evening.
For a backyard wedding, Kayla and Zack’s definitely takes the cake! Even though it was a rainy wedding day, everyone had the best time.
