One thing I always tell my couples is that I never want your wedding day to feel like a production for photographs. It’s a gathering of the people who know you best and love you dearly, and your photographs should reflect that presence and connection. Authentic wedding photography is about capturing your day as it felt, as well as how it looked. It’s the difference between being photographed and being seen.

As a Boston wedding photographer, my goal is to deliver a gallery of truly authentic images that transport you immediately back to how you felt in the moment.
What Authentic Wedding Photography Isn’t
On your wedding day, we’re not creating stagnant, forced photographs where you’re looking at the camera and wondering what to do with your hands, trying to smile “correctly,” or feeling like you’re posing because that’s what you’re supposed to do. Anyone can stand there and press a shutter button to take a picture! But being seen and having your story documented is a completely different approach.

Being Seen and Having Your Story Told: What Authentic Wedding Photography Really Captures
Authentic wedding photography is all about connection. It captures the way your partner looks at you, a parent’s expression during the ceremony, or your guests laughing together during speeches.
These are the photographs that are full of emotion. They’re the ones that become cherished memories and heirlooms, and are the photos that are framed and gifted. These are the images you’ll return to again and again because they take you right back to how that moment felt.

The photographs that my couples cherish the most aren’t usually the ones that were planned. They’re the photos of Grandma fixing a veil, kids dancing at the reception, or of the two of you walking back down the aisle, radiating excitement as newlyweds.
As a documentary photographer, I’m always looking for those genuine, emotion-filled moments and framing them in a beautiful way in order to preserve their energy. I want your gallery to remind you exactly how it felt to marry your best friend, and to be surrounded by the people you love most.

My Role as Your Authentic Wedding Photographer

I don’t view my role as one to manufacture moments. Instead, I prefer to offer guidance when it’s helpful, and I know when to step in and when to disappear. This is what leads to artful, candid photos of your day.
We’ll capture all of the portraits that you’ll want to have as well, but I’ll do it intentionally by balancing direction with observation.
For this reason, I love to get to know you both and your story even before your wedding day. The better I understand your relationship, the better I’m able to pick up on the connection and those significant moments between you and your family and friends as they naturally unfold.
