I’m super excited to share these Boston family photos today of Mel + Geoff’s sweet little family of three! We had so much fun during their session and captured some beautiful images that I know they’ll treasure forever.
Boston Family Photos in Beacon Hill
I’ve been fortunate to know Mel and Geoff for several years now. I photographed their engagement and wedding a few years back, and so I was so excited to be able to photograph their growing family this year! They opted for a Boston family photo session, so we got to do some exploring in the city during their session. Mel and Geoff are such a sweet couple, so I was absolutely honored when they reached out to schedule this session with their adorable daughter!
During this October session, we explored both Beacon Hill as well as the Boston Public Gardens. The fall lighting was spectacular, so we got some really beautiful photos! Mel, Geoff, and their daughter wore coordinating, but not matching, outfits. I believe that this leads to truly authentic photos, so my outfit recommendation is always to opt for coordinating outfits over super matchy-matchy! They also were dressed nicely, but still casual enough to feel authentic.
We walked the historic cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill, stopping in front of picturesque homes and shops for photos. We then headed to the Public Gardens where we spent some time playing under a weeping willow tree. It was a really beautiful time!
Tips for Boston Family Photo Sessions
Boston is a great location for family photo sessions because there are so many different settings within walking distance! I love that Boston is a walkable city. When planning a family photo session here, I recommend selecting a couple of locations for variety. For even more variety, you could consider an outfit change between the locations to get a few different looks out of your photos. If you have really little ones, consider locations that are easy to transport your stroller to and from. And finally, it’s a good idea to bring along a snack for the kiddos, especially if we are going to go to multiple locations! They can have a quick bite in between so that they are able to relax and enjoy the entire experience.
