There’s something so timeless about celebrating love by the sea. For Kayla and Patrick, this anniversary photo session was about more than just marking another year together, but actually about honoring their life as a family.
Blessed with two wonderful sons, they wanted their session to reflect not only their relationship as a couple, but also the family they’ve built together.

The Coastal Anniversary Photo Session
We started the afternoon with a fun, relaxed family session, where Kayla, Patrick, and their two boys got to explore and take some fun pictures along the rocky shore.
Then from there, we transitioned into something a little more romantic for just Kayla and Patrick.
After a quick outfit change, the focus shifted to just the two of them for their anniversary portraits, and it couldn’t have been more perfect!

A Meaningful Location by the Sea
This session took place in the coastal town they call home, which made the setting all the more significant. The location was perfect– we had gorgeous cliffs as a backdrop, textured rocks to explore, and the water was shimmering in the afternoon sun.
We were lucky to have beautiful direct afternoon light for the family photos. Then, as we shifted to the anniversary photos, the sun began to set, giving us that indirect golden glow from the sunset. It was truly so special!
I grew up by the sea, and coastal shoots will always have my heart. There’s something about the mix of sand, salt air, and wind that brings a natural element to every photo. Whether it’s for a session like this or your wedding day, you can’t beat the ocean as a backdrop!

Anniversary Photo Session Outfits
Patrick and Kayla brought along an outfit change to give their anniversary photos a different feel from the family photos. I absolutely loved the dress that Kayla changed into. It had just enough glam to highlight that this was their anniversary session because it had some slight wedding vibes to it.
The shift from the relaxed and fun family session to this more intimate anniversary shoot felt so natural. Their gallery perfectly balances fun, love-filled family moments with the quiet, romantic energy between the two of them.

Every Session Is Unique
What I love most about sessions like this is seeing how everyone’s vision is completely unique. Even when two sessions happen in similar settings, the end result is always so different and special.
For instance, my couple Elli and Cam had their engagement photos taken in a similar location along the rocky coast, but their gallery has a totally different energy! I love hearing your story and helping you bring your vision to life, whatever that may be.
