An Elegant Massachusetts Elopement | Marisa + Charles

Like so many couples, Marisa and Charles wound up opting to elope rather than host a large wedding mid-pandemic. Their day turned out to be absolutely beautiful though and was filled with memories that they will never forget! It was a perfect example of a classic Massachusetts elopement.

An Elegant Massachusetts Elopement Day

With both of their families being far away (Marisa is from Hawaii and Charles is from Australia!), their relationship really grew during 2020 as they leaned on each other for love and support. So while it’s always a difficult decision to decide to have an intimate elopement instead of a large event with family and friends, their day was an expression of love and a collection of beautiful, intimate moments.

The day began with Marisa getting ready with her sister, and then the two met for a sweet first-look moment before heading out to the woods surrounding their venue’s property to exchange their vows. Then they popped the cork on some champagne and had a toast to celebrate their new marriage!

Since Marisa and Charles live in Boston, while their families are in Hawaii and Australia, it was difficult for them to host everyone for an event during the pandemic. During a trip out to North Adams (and perhaps spawned by some fireside cocktails), they decided to just go ahead and get married there. They booked the perfect elopement at Tourists Hotel and had a special day with just the two of them and Marisa’s sister as a witness.

It was February, so the snowy backdrop at Tourists provided for some gorgeous winter wedding portraits. Marisa wore a stunning emerald green velvet dress which was perfect for the cozy setting.

If you’re not familiar with the area, North Adams, Massachusetts is a great little town in the Berkshires. It’s a perfect location for planning a wedding or elopement and has lots of history and beautiful New England scenery.

Elopement Tip for Couples

Marisa and Charles’ elopement was filled with so much love and so many intimate moments. They weren’t rushed on their day at all and instead were able to savor all of the moments, which in turn led to stunning images. I loved connecting with them and learning about their story so that their love for each other could really be captured through photos. My biggest tip for couples on their wedding or elopement day is to really be sure to slow down and enjoy each moment – for one, so that you can actually enjoy the day, but also so that we can create beautiful images from intentional moments. Congratulations and so much love to Marisa and Charles!

If you are planning a Massachusetts elopement and are looking for some ideas on how to capture the day and make it truly special like this one was, I would love to chat!
