Looking for secret garden wedding inspiration? Then you will LOVE Hanna + Bill’s wedding at the Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA! I’m so thrilled to share their photos today. This wedding has been one of my favorites of the year so far! I loved how much thought and attention to detail they put into making the day really special and fitting to their secret garden theme. Keep reading for all of the beautiful details!
Willowdale Estate Wedding
I met Hanna at the start of the day at the Briar Barn Inn, where she was getting ready with her bridal party and family. The inn is located near Willowdale Estate in Rowley and is actually owned by the same family. So it’s a super convenient option for wedding parties and guests to stay at. We captured some really fun getting ready photos, including a few with Hanna and her bridesmaids all in coordinating floral pajama sets – which were super cute and on theme!
From there we headed to the venue, where I met Bill for some getting-ready shots with his groomsmen. H + B picked Willowdale Estate because they fell in love with the history and personality of the mansion and property, and it couldn’t have been more perfect for their day.
Hanna + Bill shared an emotional first look prior to their ceremony, and we took a few portrait photos of them to capture the moment. Then they began their ceremony, which was held on the garden terrace under the string lights, followed by cocktail hour. Dinner was held under the garden tent, and then everyone danced the night away. It was so cozy and perfect for an early September wedding!

Secret Garden Wedding Details
I mentioned that Hanna + Bill picked Willowdale for their wedding venue because they loved the historic feel of the estate, but they also loved it for its secret garden feel. Hanna really wanted a secret garden vibe, and they totally nailed it! They hung greenery and lights in the tent to keep the feeling going into the reception. They also put lots of details into their table decor and place settings to bring lots of garden charm to their day. Everything was perfectly on theme and balanced beautifully. It was all stunning, and I was so thankful to be there to capture it all.
