Lauren and Kyle’s Boston Museum of Science wedding was so fun and unique, so I’m super excited to share it today! In addition to photography, they also opted to include Super 8 wedding film in their package with me, and their film perfectly captures their beautiful day. Lauren and Kyle are the most wonderful couple, I’m beyond thrilled for them!
Boston Museum of Science Wedding Day
Lauren and Kyle met along the Charles River on their first day of college orientation at BU. They were friends for a short time, but after encouragement from their friends (who could see that they would clearly make a great couple!), they started dating pretty quickly. They’ve been together ever since!
Their Boston Museum of Science wedding day began with them each getting ready separately at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, which is conveniently right near the museum. From there, everyone headed to the church for the ceremony, which was also nearby in Charlestown. The ceremony was just beautiful – Saint Mary’s is a stunning Catholic church with incredible architecture and lots of stained glass. From there, the newlyweds and their wedding party hopped on the trolley and headed for the venue!
Weddings at the Boston Museum of Science are really neat because they have an elegant pavilion outside the museum for dinner and dancing, so guests are able to mingle in and out and along the edge of the river. It was also so special to be able to capture L + K’s portrait photos there along the river, since that’s where they first met!
The rest of the evening was just perfect. They planned some really sweet details– for instance, instead of doing a bouquet toss, Lauren dedicated her bouquet to her mom during dinner. And then for dessert, in addition to cake, they had a cotton candy vendor!
Super 8 Wedding Film
I LOVE when my couples opt to include Super 8 film in their photography package, and was so thrilled to capture Lauren and Kyle’s day using this medium! Lauren is an incredible talent in the film industry as an actor and producer and has a great appreciation for film, so going with Super 8 was a no-brainer for them. They both really lived in the moment and focused on their marriage and celebration, which allowed me to capture images and film that caught their day’s fleeting moments and energy.
What is Super 8 Wedding Film?
Super 8 is a type of film that was popular in the 1960s and 1970s, so the footage has a vintage feel to it. It has some graininess which makes it feel like an old film. It’s also silent film, so the videos draw you in without the distraction of sound which I love. When I film on Super 8 for a wedding, I like to deliver one version of the film that’s silent and one that’s paired with music for an even more romantic feel. You wind up with a 3-5 minute digital film that covers all of the elements of your wedding day.
